Larry lost his battle with Chronic Kidney Disease secondary to Type 2 Diabetes on Febrruary 3, 2011.

He was born in Washington, DC, on September 9, 1951.  He attended Bladensburg High School where his main interests were Football, Track & Field, and Drafting.  Upon graduation from high school he accepted a position in the physics department at the University of Maryland in College Park.

            In 1970 he married his high school sweetheart Catherine Stein.  He joined the Air Force and served for 4 years at Clovis AFB in New Mexico and Yakota AB in Japan.

            While in the Air Force, Larry was awarded the Air Force Accommodation Medal.  After his military career he returned to continue his work in the physics department of the University of Maryland where he retired after 25 years.

            With a passion for studying the Bible and a love for people, the Japanese culture, and science fiction books/movies, Larry was most known for his love of children, cheerful personality and bright smile that would light up any room.

          Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Catherine; two sons and four daughters: Malcolm and his wife Jennifer, Jonathan, Amaryah and her husband Jason Sr., Jannette and her husband Rashaun, Naomi, and Y’hanna and her husband Nestor; five siblings: Douglas, Shernette, Mayzie, Vardrey,  and Andre; and eight grandchildren: Aliyah, Imani, Nathaniel, Jason Jr., Isabella, Lynnette, Travis, and Jeremiah; and a host of family and friends.

          He will be greatly missed by his family who will miss his easygoing personality and playful nature.
